Apple unveiled its largest OS upgrade, iOS 18, during WWDC 2024. This latest update brings customization options for your home screen, along with a fresh photo app and revamped control center. Additionally, the event saw the debut of Apple Intelligence.

Many new features will be available in Apple iOS 18

In iOS 18, Apple has introduced several exciting features:

  1. Scheduled Messages: You can now schedule messages to be sent later, eliminating the need to rely on Siri for reminders. Simply compose your message and choose a date and time for automatic delivery.
  2. Text Formatting: iOS 18 finally brings rich text formatting options to the Messages app. You can now apply bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough to your messages, enhancing expressiveness.
  3. Tap to Cash: With this feature, you can pay by simply tapping two iPhones together. It’s like AirDrop for sending money, and it ensures privacy by not sharing personal information during transactions.
  4. RCS Support: Apple embraces RCS (Rich Communication Services), improving texting with Android users. Expect higher-resolution photos, larger file sizes, audio messages, and cross-platform emoji reactions.
  5. Mail App Enhancements: Apple Mail gains AI-powered features, including better search results, generative “Smart Replies,” and assistance with composing emails. It’s a smarter and more efficient email experience.
  6. Journal App Update: While specific details are scarce, the Journal app receives improvements, promising a streamlined journaling experience.

Hide Apps

iOS 18 allows you to hide specific apps. When hidden, they won’t appear in search results, notifications, or other system areas. You’ll find them neatly tucked away in a “Hidden” folder within the App Library.

Lock Screen Shortcuts

You can now add additional shortcuts to the lock screen, allowing direct access to apps like the flashlight and camera. Whether your iPhone is locked or unlocked, these shortcuts are readily available.

Face ID Lock for All Apps

iOS 18 lets you apply Face ID authentication to all apps on your device. Enhanced security ensures that only authorized users can access sensitive apps.

New feature is added to ‘Siri’

In iOS 18, Siri receives a significant upgrade, making it more accessible and versatile:

  1. New Interface and App Icon: Siri gets a fresh look with an updated interface and a new app icon. It’s designed to be more user-friendly and visually appealing.
  2. Voice and Text Interaction: Users can now interact with Siri using both voice commands and typed text. Whether you prefer speaking or typing, Siri is ready to assist you.
